Our great grand-daughters Haley and Harley are on the Junior Hight basketball team here in southwest Oklahoma, and last Friday they won the Cottonbelt Tournament Championship. We are so Proud! Haley is #15 and Harley is#14 in the picture of the team with the trophy.
They are both cheerleaders also, so busy girls. Their picture was on the front page of the local paper. Does that make them famous?

This is Haley’s 8th grade graduation picture (in the pink). She was valedictorian of her class.

Harley is in the 7th grade this year and is following in her sister’s footsteps scholastic-wise.

Congratulations, girls!

>How to get rid of snow on porch

Easy. Just wait for no. 1 son to stop by and let him scoop it off. David stopped in on his lunch hour today and scooped off what hadn’t already melted.

He calls himself a mad scientist and is always working on some new project. Yesterday he came in all happy and said he had successfully created/separated hydrogen from water, just a little, but it worked. I did not ask for explanations of how he did it. He is refining the process and hoping to be able to produce enough to heat his little cabin with water. If I know him, he will keep at it until it works.
This is David and his motorcycle Susie (he always names them!!!) He has been riding since he was junior high age and got his first dirt bike. Over the years he has had 2 accidents, and was not seriously hurt either time. The Lord watches over him.
I believe his philosophy can be summed up in the words of Ernie J. Zelinski (author of the book, “The Joy of Not Working–one of my favorites!) When it comes to security, your creativity beats money ten times out of ten.
Blessings to all.

>Brand New Blog

>This is the first entry on my new blog. The purpose is to pass news to family and friends, bring them up to date with pictures, and just generally keep in touch. I will also post items I find interesting on health, the economy, thrift, recipes, and whatever else grabs my attention. Maybe some of you will be interested too. Feel free to comment.

A little about my family: Married to Harold for 54 years as of March 4 this year. And they said it wouldn’t last. Pessimists said 6 months, optimists gave us a year. Guess we showed them!

Two children: David, divorced with one daughter, Jessica, who is married to Jack, and has one daughter, Serenity age 7 months.
Patti, married to Randy, with 2 children, Jack and Sunshine. Jack is divorced (a lot of that going around) with a daughter D’Anna who is 2. Sunshine is married to Michael, and they have 2 daughters, Haley and Harley.

About the title of this blog: We moved to Oklahoma 26 years ago from Illinois, thus the Yankee epithet. As David Baldacci said in the book “Wish you Well,” Once a Yankee always a Yankee.

I like quotes from famous people so plan to add one often. Like this one from Sandra Bullock, my favorite actress, “Your imperfections are what make you beautiful.”
